AP Designer Homes — About

Building homes wasn't the plan. It became the passion.

AP Designer Homes was built on a simple belief: exceptional homes begin with exceptional people and honest relationships. Ours isn't a story of generations in construction — it's the story of a passion for transforming homes, and a decision to do things differently.

There was no business plan. It was built one home, one relationship, one hard-won lesson at a time — a renovation habit that became a business, and a standard that became the reason clients keep sending us their friends. We're not the biggest builder in Adelaide. We intend to be the one families trust the most.

I didn't grow up in the building industry.

My background was in technology, not construction. After a Computer Science degree and years in IT — including time in London — I found myself questioning whether I was doing what I really wanted. I was renovating my own homes at the time, and discovered something I loved: solving problems, working with my hands, watching an idea slowly become real. When a redundancy came, I helped a close friend renovate one of my properties for sale. He sold it, and before long we'd repeated the process several more times.

Renovation craftsmanship, AP Designer Homes

A few months later, over a game of billiards and a glass of Scotch, my friend asked a simple question.

"Have you ever thought about doing this full time?"
The beginning of AP Designer Homes

He'd spent years managing renovations for clients and had struggled to find builders he could trust. Watching how I approached projects — planning carefully, communicating openly, treating every home as my own — convinced him there was another way to do it. Looking back, that conversation started more than a business. It set the philosophy AP Designer Homes is still built on. What began as The Reno Crew grew with every project, until clients stopped asking me to renovate the homes they were selling and started asking me to build the homes they wanted to live in. The name changed. The way we work never has.

The people behind AP

The business has grown, but it's still built around people. My wife Marisa, a Chartered Accountant, leads the financial side of the business, while Enzo oversees construction and site operations. Between us, every project gets the same care it would if it were our own — because a business built on relationships only works when the people behind it stay close to the work.

What Makes an AP Home?

An AP home isn't defined by its finishes. It's defined by the hundreds of decisions no one will ever notice — made carefully, for the people who'll live there. It belongs to its site, values longevity over trends, and is built as properly behind the walls as it is beautiful in front of them. Years from now, it should still feel right. That's the standard we put our name to.

Why Clients Choose AP

Word of mouth built this business, and it still does. Most of our clients arrive through referral — past clients, friends of friends, people who watched a build happen next door and asked who was behind it. They choose AP Designer Homes for a builder who treats their home as if it were our own, tells the truth even when it's inconvenient, and still answers the phone long after the final invoice is paid. We don't measure success in homes completed. We measure it in relationships that last well beyond handover.
